If I got a hand written warning ticket 4 speeding...but license is suspended, did he run it correct?

my license is suspended in MA but my RI license is valid. Got pulled over in MA 1 week ago, gave officer my license and registration (freinds car) and 5 minutes later he came back and gave me a written warning for failure to yeild then let me go. Why didn't I go to jail?, did he run my license correct or just write the warning and not run my license? Also the MA RMV sent me a letter with my old MA id# (5 years old) but not my correct RI license number does that have something to do with it? Yeah i bet no one knows
